Bespoke Residence Designed by Leading Architecture and Interior Design Firm
The client, an experienced builder himself, wanted a home that reflected his passion for quality construction and bespoke interior detailing. When he approached AW – a leading architecture and interior design firm, the house was still in the construction phase. With exposed RCC acting as the design canvas, our team saw an opportunity to blend structural architecture with luxury interior design in a seamless, creative manner.
We made strategic changes at the construction stage such as introducing a filler slab ceiling, a custom designed wood and metal staircase, and structural enhancements—setting the tone for an integrated design journey that aligns with modern residential architecture in India.
Vestibule: A Grand Entry with Cultural Essence
At the entrance, guests are welcomed by an embossed wooden mural of Lord Ganesha framed by brass lotus petals—bringing in positivity and cultural symbolism. The flooring design amplifies spatial perception and sets a serene, welcoming tone. This approach showcases Vastu compliant architecture and interior detailing, a specialty of AW.
Drawing Room: Simplicity with Symbolism
The drawing room reflects a philosophy of minimalist and spiritual interior design. A hand painted fish canvas, known for generating positive Feng Shui energy, is echoed in a free flowing fish pattern crafted from RCC, wood, and steel behind the sofas. The muted fabric sofas contrast elegantly with this textured backdrop.
Large openings draw natural light into the space, while intricately designed *jalis* allow for filtered ventilation—perfect examples of climate responsive architecture and interiors by our Ahmedabad based interior design studio.
Dining Area: Where Design Meets Drama
Separated from the formal living area, the double height dining space stands out as the most dramatic volume in the home. A customized eight seater dining table is grounded under a visually arresting wood and steel staircase—where horizontality and verticality interact, demonstrating modern staircase design in contemporary Indian homes.
Pooja Room: Tradition with an Artistic Soul
The pooja room, designed in an elliptical architectural form, showcases handcrafted Kutch mirror work and a ceiling adorned with hanging bells that chime gently, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere. A carved wooden door with colored glass inlays and brass bells completes the traditional Indian temple style interior—reflecting AW’s expertise in ethnic modern interior design.
An embossed 3D horse mural adds movement and energy to the upper dining area, reinforcing grandeur and power. From the dining table, one can enjoy views of a courtyard with inlayed lotus motif flooring, leading the eye to a hand painted floral accent wall—merging nature inspired design with handcrafted artistry.
Bedrooms
As you transition from public to private areas, the tone of the interiors shifts to comfort and calm. The home features two groundfloor bedrooms and three on the first floor—each with attached dressing areas and bathrooms. These rooms are connected via common areas with filler slab ceilings and white minimalist walls, maintaining continuity in architectural language. The first floor corridor, with glass railings, leads to private rooms and a home theatre, demonstrating efficient space planning.
Each bedroom is custom-designed, highlighting AW’s approach to tailored interior solutions:
Elder Son’s Bedroom
Dominated by a grey color scheme, this room features a wooden logstyle bed, abstract fabric and steel headboard, and Italian marble wall cladding. A wardrobe with custom caricature artwork and sprocket wheel décor add an industrial touch. A triangular sofa continues the geometric concept, making this space a great example of youthful bedroom design with character.
Second Bedroom
Simple yet refined, this room includes a white MDF back panel, inclined wooden and fabric headboard, hidden storage, and a suspended MS TV plate placed in front of a window, enhancing circulation and light. It's a classic case of minimalist bedroom design with smart spatial optimization.
Third Bedroom
Elegantly understated, with a motif in wood and deco finish forming a detailed headboard, and a black glassfinished TV unit with integrated storage—showcasing a modern and refined aesthetic.
Other bedrooms follow a neutral modern theme, with each bed designed ergonomically and furnished with dark veneer, reflecting premium furniture design trends in Indian homes.
Toilets and Courtyard Integration
Bathrooms are planned around a central courtyard, providing access to natural light and views. Light toned stone finishes ensure a serene, spalike experience—an approach rooted in biophilic interior design principles.
At AW – an architecture and interior design firm known for innovation and detail, our goal was to create a home where no element felt repetitive or standard. Every space, from foyer to bedroom, was treated with customized architectural and interior planning, ensuring the final home radiates warmth, character, and intentional design.
